Every Thursday school is in session we will provide this “Weekly Parent Newsletter”. Please read carefully. This will contain All Saints Academy, St. Cloud news for you and your family.

Please note, newly added information for this week will be under New News.   Information that has been previously published will be located under Bulletin Board at the end.

There will no school next week Thursday, Oct. 15^th & Friday, Oct. 16^th due to Autumn Vacation.  Look for our next Parent Newsletter Thursday, Oct. 22^nd.

NEW NEWS

1.  Workathon Need Everyone’s Help! – Hopefully, everyone has received your Workathon Family Packet.  Thank you very much to Leaf Man for taking a break from his superhero activities to talk to the students about “Saints In Service.”  We have already received several monetary pledges!  Collections for Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday total $1759.00.  A few students have also reached their personal goal of $150/student.  Our school goal is $34,000.  When students bring in their pledges, they are eligible for prizes.  All pledges will be applied towards your $350 fundraising goal/child.  Each child will receive a pledge sheet to track his/her fundraising.  Please turn in money daily.  Send all money to school in a sealed and labeled envelope.  Write your child’s name, homeroom and total amount enclosed on the outside of the envelope.  We will make every effort to provide the prizes on a next day basis.

2. Halloween Carnival – The Halloween Carnival will again be hosted by PAC on Saturday, Oct. 24th.  After a day of work, the kids will love an evening of fun! Come out to the ASA PAC Halloween Carnival. You can dress up and get an extra nights use of that Halloween costume, or come casual. Enjoy lots of carnival games, a haunted Eerie Alley, food and refreshments! The event is held at the ASA Waite Park building from 5-8 pm.  Bring your neighborhood friends and relatives. All are welcome. Part of the proceeds will go towards 6^th grade Deep Portage Outdoor Environmental Camp.

         Looking for a fun way to get those volunteer hours in????  We need Halloween Carnival volunteers for October 24th, 2015. We have the evening split into 2 shifts.  The first is 4:30-6:30 pm and the second is 6:30-8:30 pm.  If you have any children who are in need of Confirmation volunteer hours, we would be happy to have them volunteer at our event. Please text or call Jen Stueve at 320-290-1624, or email her at allfleetleasing@yahoo.com for further details.  We are looking for upwards of 30 volunteers for the evening.

3.  Halloween Carnival Donation - Halloween Carnival time is quickly approaching! PAC is asking all families to donate three bags of nut-safe candy. Donations can be dropped off in the school office between now and October 20. Thank you in advance for your donation!

4.  Family Lunch Accounts - Family Lunch accounts need to be kept up to date. Beginning in our next Thursday folder, families will receive notice if their balance is at or below $-10.00. If the balance reaches $-30.00, students will receive a sandwich and milk during lunch until payment is received. According to Federal Policy from the Department of Agriculture, “Schools may deny a meal to a student who pays reduced or full price and who does not provide the required payment for the meal.”  Your cooperation with this matter is most appreciated.

5.  Server Training:  Mass server training will begin soon.  There is a flyer in this Thursday folder for 3^rd – 6^th grade students.  If you are interested in becoming a server, please complete and return.

6.  Elementary Strings - Elementary strings still has openings in all the strings- violin, viola, cello, and bass.  This wonderful opportunity is open to grades 3-6.  Meetings take place twice a week at Cathedral in the orchestra room.  The times vary depending on the instrument chosen.  It is also a great way to meet other students from the other surrounding Catholic grade schools.  If you have any questions, please contact Amanda Steichen at asteichen@cathedralcrusaders.org or 251-3421 ext. 304.  

7.  Volunteer Opportunity – We are in need of a volunteer that is willing to work at St. Peter’s independently.  It requires recording & list making of furniture that we are storing at St. Peter’s.  There is some movement of furniture required in order to take photos of the furniture.  If you are interested in helping us, please contact Amanda Gjerde, Amanda.gjerde@allsaintsmn.org.  All hours will count towards your 15-hour volunteer requirement.

8.  Safe Environment Training – Many of you have completed the required paperwork needed for background checks.  Part of the process is completing the Safe Environment Training that is found online.  If you are volunteering at the school, it is required that you complete this training every year. Thank you to those of you who have completed the online training.  Please go to http://stcdio.org/safeenvironmentinstructions/ to complete the training.  The video is approximately 11 minutes long.   Make sure to answer the questions and click “Submit.”

9.  Spaghetti Dinner October 30th – Invitations will be mailed out for our ASA Spaghetti Dinner soon.  Several people have RSVP’d to our Spaghetti Dinner.  Space is limited so let us know if you plan on attending. The date is Friday, October 30^th with the social beginning at 5:30 pm, dinner buffet at 6:30 pm.  If parents already know they will be attending this adult “friend-raiser” & “fun-raiser,” you are welcome to RSVP now by emailing Marissa Bristow at marissa.bristow@allsaintsmn.org.  Over the years, our parents have been very generous and many of you have provided the staff with treats!  We would like to share the delicious bars & cookies you parents have shared with us at school.  We want to have a dessert bar at the dinner that features these wonderful desserts!  More information will be coming on how to volunteer to help with desserts.

10.  All Saints Day Celebration – All Saints Academy will be celebrating All Saints Day on Tuesday, Nov. 3^rd.  Mass will be held at 9:00 am.  Everyone is welcome to join us in the morning as we celebrate our feast day.  Afterwards, St. Joseph campus will be spending the day at the St. Cloud campus for a day of activities. YuppyPhoto will be taking a school photo so we are asking that everyone wear his or her spiritwear!

11.  Youth Hockey – St. Cloud Youth Hockey will have the event “Try Hockey For Free” on Saturday mornings (Oct. 31, Nov. 14, Nov. 21, Dec. 5 & Dec. 12) from 8 – 9 am at the MAC, 5001 Veterans Dr., St. Cloud.  Kids 4 – 8 years old in Dist. 742 who aren’t currently in hockey may register.  Registration forms are available in the office. 

Playground Duty – Week of Sept. 28^th – Oct. 2^nd.    (Please contact Kris Haehn, 251-5295, to schedule yourself for recess duty.  All families are required to volunteer for 2 days or they may opt out by paying $50/family.)

Bulletin Board

·      Spiritwear Day – Spiritwear Day is every Wednesday that school is in session.  We invite everyone (students, faculty, staff, parents) to wear some kind of Spiritwear to school every Wednesday.  We have some new zip up sweatshirts in student sizes as well as hooded sweatshirts. If you are interested in an ASA sweatshirt or t-shirt, you may check out our supply of Spiritwear!  Many of you may have seen our new items for adults as well.  Contact Marissa Bristow, marissa.bristow@allsaintsmn.org or stop in the office to try on something.

·      Funzone Oct. 15^th & 16^th:  There is no school on October 15^th & 16^th.  Funzone will be open.  If you need childcare on one or both days, please stop in the office or the Funzone room to get a form.  You may also email Funzone at sc.funzone@allsaintsmn.org to reserve your spot.

·      Pumpkinfest - Pumpkinfest is a free event offered by the City of St. Cloud Park and Recreation Department.   Fun is lurking around every corner during this safe, family friendly event! We hope you are able to join us at the Lake George and Eastman Park for the sixth annual spooktacular celebration of Pumpkinfest, on Friday, October 16 from 4-7pm. ·      School Speak – ASA has implemented School Speak, a new online school management system.  It is a secure portal that allows us to store information and communicate with our families. Many of you have received the introductory email to log in to School Speak.  If you haven’t, please contact the office, 251-5295, so that we can provide the information for you.  We would like all parents to log in and update their profile.  This technology will allow us to provide more information, communicate with parents and offer useful tools for everyone who is a member of our school community.

·      Sign Up for REMIND: The St. Cloud Campus would like to invite parents/guardians to sign up for REMIND. REMIND is a safe, free and easy way we can connect with parents through texting. It allows us to communicate with all parents instantly. Signing up is done through a unique code to Mrs. Marissa Bristow. Please text to 612-260-4578 and in the message section enter @ef392. It is that easy. You will be added on to the parent list.  If you have signed up in the past, it is not necessary to sign up again.
