January 29, 2015

Every Thursday school is in session you will be receiving a link to the “Weekly Parent Newsletter”. Please read carefully. This will contain All Saints Academy, St. Cloud news for you and your family.

1. Catholic Schools Week Update - It’s been a full week of celebration at ASA. On Sunday, we began the week with masses at all our partner parishes.  There were many positive comments regarding the masses.  On Monday, we had Pajama Day with students getting together with their grade level buddies for DEAR & treats.  In the evening, Cathedral held its Spaghetti Dinner for staff and their families to honor their dedication to Catholic schools. Tuesday, we celebrated Sports Wear Day and shared our classroom cheers. Wednesday was a whole day spent at St. John’s University.  Mass was celebrated with Bishop Kettler at the Abbey Church along with thousands of other Catholic School students.  Later that night, many families went to Skain’ Place to skate the night away.  Today, we “Dress Alike” and have a Teacher Trivia Game.  There will be bingo Friday and then popcorn later on Friday. Thank you to the following people who made this year’s Catholic Schools Week a success!!
·        To the Catholic Schools Week Planning Committee for the week.
·        To PAC parents for helping with Bingo
·        To Ms. Smude for creating bag lunches for the SC campus & St. Francis Xavier.
·        To St. John’s Prep for inviting us to mass.
·        To our custodians for all their extra work this week.
·        To the staff and students who planned and participated in Sunday liturgies.

2. Snow/Cold Days – We have decided we will make up one of the two days.  School will be in session on Monday, February 16th, President’s Day.  With the possibility of more snow/cold days, we are limited on when we can make up these days.  At this time, District 742 will not be in session.  We are asking parents to transport their children. The school gym will be open at 7 am.  Please use the back entrance if you are dropping off prior to 7:30 am.  Dismissal will be at our regular time of 2:55 pm.  Funzone will be available after school.

3. P/S/T Conferences - Conferences are scheduled for Thursday, February 19th and Thursday, February 26th from 3:45 - 7:00 pm.  All students in preschool through 6th grade will have scheduled conferences. Please look for information next week via e-mail and the Weekly Parent Newsletter for further information regarding on-line scheduling.

10. All parents are invited to Cathedral's Catholic Schools Week speaker, Erin Walsh - On Jan. 27, at 7:00 pm in Holy Angels, Erin will be speaking about “Raising Children in a Digital World.”  It’s such an important topic.  Erin will help us be more effective at understanding, monitoring, and supervising the technology that our children and teenagers live with.  CHS will serve a light chili supper in the cafeteria, 6:00 to 6:55 pm,  for all parents. Please come and socialize with other Catholic school parents and learn during this meaningful presentation.    No charge for the event; just come and enjoy! Call another parent to join you.

11. Bulletin Board
The St. Cloud Campus is in need of a new/used artificial tree for next year. If you have one laying around that is still in good condition and you want to get rid of it please call the school office 320-251-2595 and let us know.
All Saints Academy has recently developed a new way to keep all parent/child contact information up-to-date and accessible to all teachers and office personnel. In order to ensure we have proper contact info for you, if you have any changes in address, phone (including home, cell and work), e-mail or names please send these changes to anna.barzeyrobinson@allsaintsmn.org. It would be helpful if you have had any recent changes that you believe were already given to us, to resubmit them to me so I can be sure it is updated.
Please note that FunZone Summer Care will take place at both the St. Joseph and St. Cloud Campuses this year. Please keep us in mind as you begin considering your summer plans.
Birthday Treats – If your child will be sharing a birthday treat with his/her class this year, we encourage you to be health conscious and peanut/tree nut safe when sending these treats to school. Some healthy snack ideas include grain products (crackers, pretzels, cereal bars), fruit, vegetables, milk products (cheese, yogurt, pudding) or meat/protein (sunflower seeds and cold cuts). If you have questions regarding allergies of students in your child’s class, please contact the teacher or Mrs. Gjerde.
Sign Up for REMIND - The St. Cloud Campus would like to invite parents/guardians to sign up for REMIND.  REMIND is a safe, free and easy way we can connect with parents through texting.  It allows us to communicate with all parents instantly.  Signing up is done through a unique code to Mrs. Bristow.  Please text to 612-260-4578 and in the message enter @ef392.  It is that easy.  You will be added on to the parent list.
