Every Thursday school is in session we will provide this “Weekly Parent Newsletter”. Please read carefully. This will contain All Saints Academy, St. Cloud news for you and your family.

Please note, newly added information for this week will be under New News.   Information that has been previously published will be located under Bulletin Board at the end.

District 742 is not in session Friday, September 25th.  All Saints Academy is holding classes. We are asking parents to transport their children to and from school this Friday.  If you have questions, please contact Mrs. Gjerde, 251-5295, Amanda.gjerde@allsaintsmn.org

NEW NEWS

1. Grandparents Day October 2nd – Grandparents’/Special Friend Day Is Friday, October 2nd.  We love having our grandparents here!  The day will begin with hospitality.  Refreshments will be served beginning at 12:00 pm in the cafeteria followed by mass at 12:30 pm.  Grandparents may find a seat in church for themselves and their grandchildren.  The students will be coming to church with their teachers.  Students will look for their grandparents. Afterwards, there will be time for classroom activities.  Refer to the invitation in last week’s Thursday’s folder.  We hope your child’s grandparents will be able to join us for this special day.  If children will be going home with grandparents, please return the permission form to school.  This permission is required before we can release the children to go home with grandpa & grandma.

2.  No Shorts on Mass Days – Just a reminder, our dress codes states that shorts are not worn on mass days.  If it is a warm day, students may change after mass.  In general, please remember that shorts must be mid-thigh or longer.
3.  5/6 Knowledge Bowl –Knowledge Bowl (KB) is an academic competition that promotes academic achievement and rewards academic excellence.  KB promotes academics and helps develop leadership skills in a fun environment. Practices will begin the first week of October.  They will be held during the school day.  The volunteer coaches will be Jodi Kramer & Meaghan Baynes.  If you have more questions about KB, please contact Mrs. Mary Cheryl Opatz, 6th grade teacher, marycheryl.opatz@allsaintsmn.org.  If you have misplaced the forms, they are available on School Speak.

4. Elementary Strings - Elementary Strings, our Orchestra Program, will be starting the first week of October.  Please return the sign up forms that were handed out during the first two weeks of school to Amanda Steichen at Cathedral High School.  If you have any questions, please contact her at asteichen@cathedralcrusaders.org or 251-3421 ext. 304.  

3.  Paperwork Form – Please return all forms to the office from Paperwork Night.  If you have questions, please contact the school office, 251-5295.

5. Spiritwear Day – Spiritwear Day is every Wednesday that school is in session.  We invite everyone (students, faculty, staff, parents) to wear some kind of Spiritwear to school every Wednesday.  We have some new zip up sweatshirts in student sizes as well as hooded sweatshirts. If you are interested in an ASA sweatshirt or t-shirt, you may check out our supply of Spiritwear!  Many of you may have seen our new items for adults as well.  Contact Marissa Bristow, marissa.bristow@allsaintsmn.org or stop in the office to try on something.

6.  Workathon – Families will find information regarding the Workathon in this week’s Thursday folder.  St. Cloud campus is in need of work-sites.  If you know of someone in the neighborhood that needs assistance with raking or other yard work, please complete the forms that have been provided.  There has been a date change for the kick-off.  Kick-off will take place Thursday, October 1st.  Look for more information about the Workathon in future weeks.

7.  Funzone Oct. 15th & 16th:  There is no school on October 15th & 16th.  Funzone will be open.  If you need childcare on one or both days, please stop in the office or the Funzone room to get an a form.  You may also email Funzone at sc.funzone@allsaintsmn.org to reserve your spot.

8.  Spaghetti Dinner October 30th – Invitations will be mailed out for our ASA Spaghetti Dinner soon.  The date is Friday, October 30th with the social beginning at 5:30 pm.  If parents already know they will be attending this adult “friend-raiser” & “fun-raiser,” you are welcome to RSVP now by emailing Marissa Bristow at marissa.bristow@allsaintsmn.org
 
Playground Duty – Week of Sept. 28th – Oct. 2nd .    (Please contact Kris Haehn, 251-5295, to schedule yourself for recess duty.  All families are required to volunteer for 2 days or they may opt out by paying $50/family.)

·      Spaghetti Dinner Cook – Do you have an amazing pasta sauce?  Do friends rave about your cooking?  SC campus Spaghetti Dinner will be held Friday, October 30th.  We are currently looking for an individual or group of individuals who would be interested in cooking the sauce & pasta for that night.  If you or a group of friends would be interested in cooking your sauce for our annual event, please contact Marissa Bristow, marissa.bristow@allsaintsmn.org
·      Pumpkinfest - Pumpkinfest is a free event offered by the City of St. Cloud Park and Recreation Department.   Fun is lurking around every corner during this safe, family friendly event! We hope you are able to join us at the Lake George and Eastman Park for the sixth annual spooktacular celebration of Pumpkinfest, on Friday, October 16 from 4-7pm. ·      School Speak – ASA has implemented School Speak, a new online school management system.  It is a secure portal that allows us to store information and communicate with our families. Many of you have received the introductory email to log in to School Speak.  If you haven’t, please contact the office, 251-5295, so that we can provide the information for you.  We would like all parents to log in and update their profile.  This technology will allow us to provide more information, communicate with parents and offer useful tools for everyone who is a member of our school community.
·      Sign Up for REMIND: The St. Cloud Campus would like to invite parents/guardians to sign up for REMIND. REMIND is a safe, free and easy way we can connect with parents through texting. It allows us to communicate with all parents instantly. Signing up is done through a unique code to Mrs. Marissa Bristow. Please text to 612-260-4578 and in the message section enter @ef392. It is that easy. You will be added on to the parent list.  If you have signed up in the past, it is not necessary to sign up again.

NEW NEWS

1. 5/6 Knowledge Bowl – SC Campus would like to invite 5th and 6th graders to be part of our Knowledge Bowl team.  Knowledge Bowl (KB) is an academic competition that promotes academic achievement and rewards academic excellence.  KB promotes academics and helps develop leadership skills in a fun environment.  Information was handed out at Parent Meeting Night this past Tuesday.  If you were unable to attend, there will be a packet in this Thursday’s folder.  If you have more questions about KB, please contact Mrs. Mary Cheryl Opatz, 6th grade teacher, marycheryl.opatz@allsaintsmn.org.  If you are interested in volunteering/driving for Knowledge Bowl, please let Mrs. Opatz know.

Bulletin Board
·      Pumpkinfest - Pumpkinfest is a free event offered by the City of St. Cloud Park and Recreation Department.  We encourage families with kids 12 years of age or younger to come out and participate in trick or treat stations, a petting zoo, pumpkin patch fun, hayrides and so much more. Monsters University will be featured on our outdoor movie screen starting at dusk.  Families are encouraged to bring a lawn chair or a blanket to sit on while the film plays. Fun is lurking around every corner during this safe, family friendly event! ·      Dress Code –If you have questions regarding the dress code, please refer to the Dress Code section in the Parent Handbook which is located on the school website (allsaintsmn.org). Some standards include (not all):  Shorts & skirts must be mid-thigh or longer; clothing must have sleeves;  no tank tops/dresses, muscle shirts or spaghetti straps; no clothing with tears or holes; tight/form fitting clothing is not allowed; all shoes need to have a back on them. Reasonable attempts will be made to communicate with parents/guardians with a phone call or a cover garment will be provided for the student if necessary.  The remedy will be chosen at the discretion of the principal.  If you have questions/concerns please contact Amanda Gjerde, 251-5295 or amanda.gjerde@allsaintsmn.org.
·      Birthday Treats – If your child will be sharing a birthday treat with his/her class this year please remember to send nut-safe treats.  We encourage you to be health conscious when sending these treats to school. Some healthy snack ideas include grain products (crackers, pretzels, cereal bars), fruit, vegetables, milk products (cheese, yogurt, pudding) or meat/protein (sunflower seeds and cold cuts). If you have questions regarding allergies of students in your child’s class, please contact the teacher or Mrs. Gjerde.
·      St. Peter's Sunday School - St. Peter's has a Sunday School program for children ages 3-first grade.  It is held during the 10:30 mass from October 4th-April 24th almost every Sunday that ASA is in session.  Drop off your children and attend mass while they learn about the gospel or other Catholic teachings.  Children sing songs, say prayers, make friends, and do a craft to reinforce the lesson.  After mass parents pick up children in their classroom.
