Parents as Partners
Join us for the last Parents as Partners discussion about learning positive character, social and emotional development for kids that can transform their school experiences. Parents will learn how to enhance their family culture, develop the character values they hold dear in their children, and promote positive mental attitudes that carry over into all areas of student life.Top 20 trainer, Paul Beirnabei, will be here to work with parents, answer questions and help us practice all of these skills. He is a dynamic and entertaining speaker.

ALL are welcome whether you attended the first session or not. This session will review what was covered and then add much more to our toolbox as parents.
PAC will provide a free simple supper for families at 5:30 pm, free childcare will be provided at FunZone, and the program will run from 6:15 to 8 pm. (A free will donation box to help cover the cost of food will be available if you are so inclined).
Aladdin Tickets
Our 5th & 6th grade Spring Musical is Disney’s Aladdin. Performances will be May 11th and 12th at 7:30 pm at the SJ campus. Advanced tickets for the shows will be available at both campuses beginning May 1st. We will also sell at the door on show nights. Tickets are $8/adults, $5/ages 5-12, and free for children 4 and under.
Enrollment for the 2018-2019 School Year
All Saints Academy is accepting new family admissions. Tell your friends about ASA and the rigorous academic learning provided. If you know of a family that is interested in touring our building, please have them call 251-5295 and schedule a tour with Mrs. Paula Leider. Families may apply for financial aid once they are enrolled.
We have room in all grades including all-day preschool!
ASA-SC Is HIRING!
We are looking for a full time Maintenance Custodial Staff person beginning approximately August 1. The position does include every other weekend and approximately 8 hours per week cleaning in the church. Benefits and tuition remission apply. Band Recruitment for 2018-2019
Band exploration events are ramping up for 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders to get excited about joining band for next year! Mr. Jacobson will be meeting with students over the next couple of weeks to talk about what band is like and to try out instruments together, but why should YOU as a parent sign your child up for band? A few facts and figures on the benefits of being in band: Did you know that according to researchers, students who participate in school music like band also show significantly higher academic achievement? This includes demonstrated higher achievement in math and reading, higher scores on the SAT and ACT, as well as more recognition for academic honors and awards. According to one study, “research made between music and intelligence concluded that music training is far greater than computer instruction in improving children’s abstract reasoning skills.” Researchers at the University of California and the Niigata Brain Research Institute in Japan even found an area of the brain that is activated only when reading musical scores! Safety of Our Building
Recently, all parents received an email discussing some of our safety procedures. Our building is 100% secure. Please do not open door for other parents whether you know them or not. The buzzer at our front door activates a camera and allows the office to see all parents and visitors who are coming into the building. It is really important that all parents follow this procedure for the safety of all students.
Fortnite (and other video games that simulate violence)
For the last several weeks, many of our students (some as young as 9 or 10 years old) have been discussing their activities on video games like Fortnite and Call of Duty. Deciding which games your children may play is entirely within a parents’ purview, however, we’d like to issue a warning about these particular games. The premise of Fortnite is very much like Hunger games, where players (children and adults from all over the internet) are competing against other players (usually online gamers that our students don’t know) for survival. The goal of the game is to kill everyone before you are killed. In addition to killing people, children are exposed to a variety of weapons and can play for free without parent permission. The game is rated as Teen according to the warning system. Call of Duty is war based, but has similar outcomes. If your child is playing these types of games, please discuss with him or her that discussion of these games and activities (because of their connection to violence) are not appropriate at school. Please remember that many parents choose not to allow their children to play these games and that the learning environment should be free from discussion of these topics. If you have questions regarding this topic, please refer them to Mrs. Leider. Thank you for your cooperation.
Pick Up Procedures and Parking Lot Reminders
Please remember that when K-6 students are dismissed at the end of the day, parents and guardians should NOT park in the lot directly behind the school where the car-line is located. Parking is available in the lot across 12th Avenue and you may walk up and wait outside Door 4. If you do park in the lot behind the school, you MUST wait until ALL cars have cleared the pick up line (at about 3:10 pm) to pull out of your parking space. There have been some near misses with accidents lately when parents pull out of spaces and into the pick up line. This procedure is all about safety and if we all work together, we can ensure that every student makes it to their cars safely. Please communicate these procedures to any adult picking up your child.
Preschool parents picking up at the end of the day should park on the far side of 11th Avenue, and come into the building through Door 2. Please do not park in the bus lane along the front of the building.

CHS “Sip & See”
You are also invited to Cathedral’s “Sip & See” event on Thurs., May 10 th . The Campaign for Cathedral will be showcasing Cathedral’s new building and the drawing for the 2017 Jeep Renegade and other prizes will also take place. Bulletin Board
St. Peter’s and St. Paul’s is partnering with Atonement Lutheran again this year for Vacation Bible School. Dates for this year are June 11-14. Please call, text ,or email Tricia Meling if you’d like to volunteer 612-499-1672 ornolan141@hotmail.com . Registration came home in Thursday folders a couple of weeks ago. It is one form per child and can be turned in to the office. If you need a new registration form, they are available in the office.
The 9th Annual Taste of St. Cloud will be held Mon., May 7, 2018 from 4:30 - 7:30 pm. Tickets are $25/person. This event will be held at the Kelly Inn, 100 4th Ave. S., St. Cloud. This event supports the Franciscan Community Volunteers, a ministry of the Franciscan Sisters. Tickets can be purchased from Sister Joyce, foster grandparent in Mrs. Decker’s room.

Please remember that we are a Nut-safe building . All snacks and lunches need to be peanut-free and nut-free. NOTE: Since ingredients change, this list may be updated from time to time – we ask that parents check this list before purchasing snacks throughout the year.
