Parent Newsletter
All Saints Academy, St. Cloud Campus
September 8, 2022
Principal’s Piece - We are two weeks into the school year and things have been going smoothly. Last year, there was tension and anxiety in the building due to COVID and many of the students were having difficulties dealing with the routines of a school day. Even though COVID cases will still occur, this year, students seem much calmer and happier, and the ASA staff is more enthusiastic as this COVID weight has been taken off. I am looking forward to having more time to spend with the students and helping the teachers with curricular needs. I now ask you, the parents, to re-engage with the school community and get more involved with school activities. It is a good way to learn more about the school your child attends and a great opportunity to meet other parents. Together, we will make it an EXCELLENT school year! - Karl
Bussing Woes
ASA realizes that many of you use the bus for your children to attend ASA. Unfortunately, ASA is only the “middle man” when it comes to bussing issues. If you are not seeing your bus in the morning, please contact District Transportation at 320-253-9370 or email at dsb@isd742.org. Click here for the district transportation website. Here you will find forms, staff info & information regarding bussing.
Picture Day – Tuesday, September 13th
ASA Picture Day is this Tuesday, Sept. 13th. The Camera Shop photographers will be taking your child’s school portrait. Please look for the flyer/envelope from the Camera Shop in your child’s backpack today. FACTS has an announcement as well on how to order school pictures. Preschool students who attend 3-day preschool will have their school portraits taken on October 27th.
Paperwork Folders
If you haven’t returned your paperwork folder with completed forms, the office asks that you return the paperwork as soon as possible. Preschool parents, if you haven’t submitted your immunization information yet, please do so ASAP. This is a requirement by the State and if we do not receive the necessary paperwork, then those preschoolers without that paperwork cannot attend our licensed preschool.
PAC (Parent Activities Committee)
PAC is ASA’s parent organization. They help with fun activities for the kids and do things to show appreciation for our teachers. Your support is needed to keep this parent organization operating. All families are asked to donate to PAC at the beginning of the year. Currently PAC has only collected half of what they collected last year. However, last night’s PAC meeting was better attended than previous year’s meetings. With your support things like the Halloween Party, Kid’s Dance, St. Nick Day, and Spring Carnival will not happen. Your child’s class is in need of parent representatives so please sign up.
No Bussing on September 26th
On Monday, September 26th District 742 will be holding a professional development day for their staff so bussing will not be available. All Saints Academy will have regular class on that day. We ask that parents transport their children to school.
Arrival and Dismissal Times
Students in grades PreK-5 should report directly to their classroom when they arrive between 7:30 – 7:45 am. K – 5th grade may use Door #2 or # 4. Preschool drop off is at Door #2.
Dismissal for the day begins at 3:00 pm. Students picked up will not be released before 3:00 pm. Please refer to the “Drop Off & Pick Up” document on FACTS under Resource Documents.
Preschool Pick up for Mrs. Poganski – Door #2
Preschool Pick up for Mrs. Gruenhagen & Mrs. Allen – Door #3
FACTS
FACTS is the new online Student Information System and tuition payment system. ASA is transitioning from School Speak to FACTS this year. It is a secure portal that allows us to provide more information, communicate with parents, sign up for conferences and offer useful tools for everyone who is a member of our school community.
If you are new to All Saints Academy or have never logged onto FACTS please call the office for your username & password. Currently, the office and kitchen are learning how to utilize FACTS with our lunch program. When we learn how you can add funds using a credit card, it will be communicated to you.
Funzone is using School Speak for now. When Funzone transitions to FACTS, you will be notified and provided directions on signing up & payment.
Student Absences or Late Students
Please call the office to report your child’s absence before 8 am . Also, transportation changes for your child should be made by calling the office before 10 am. It is difficult for us to make changes to the routine after 10 am and teachers do not have time to check email messages to make those changes throughout the day. If your child unexpectedly needs to attend FunZone, please call the office by 10 am.
Free/Reduced Hot Lunch Program
Parents, it is not too late to send in applications for free and/or reduced hot lunches. You can pick up an application at the office. If you have questions regarding this program, please contact Mrs. Bristow at 251-5295 or marissa.bristow@allsaintsmn.org.
Calendar Update for Grandparent’s Day
September 30th is Grandparents’ Day. We love having our grandparents here! More details to come.
2022-2023 Playground Supervision Program
Our goal is to have one volunteer parent to act as crossing guard on the playground every day to assist the school staff during the entire recess period. Recess will be 10:40 am – 11:40 am.
Please contact the office to sign up for Playground Supervision. We need one parent everyday to assist the school staff during the entire recess/lunch period. There is a calendar in the office for your convenience or you can call Mrs. Bristow to sign up. ASA is hoping to move this sign up to a digital format within the month.
K - 5 families need to volunteer for recess supervision 2-3 times this year for the safety of the children. (Preschool parents are not required to volunteer as their children do not participate in lunch recess time. But all families are welcome to volunteer.) If you find your schedule doesn’t allow you to volunteer for Recess Duty, you may opt out by paying $50. (Separate charge from Volunteer Requirement. Recess hours are applied to the 15-hours/year of volunteering.) These funds are used to defray the cost of additional paid recess staff. At the end of the school year, families will be charged $50 if they haven’t volunteered for recess.

REMIND!
We encourage parents/guardians to sign up for REMIND - a safe, free and easy way we can communicate with parents instantly through texting.
To sign up, text ASA Administrative Assistant Mrs. Marissa Bristow at 612-260-4578 and in the message enter @ef392.
It is that easy. You will be added to the parent list. If you have signed up in the past, it is not necessary to sign up again.
ASA is Nut-Free!
Please remember that we are a Nut-free building. All snacks and lunches need to be peanut-free and nut-free. There is a safe-snack list on FACTS under Resource Documents. NOTE: Since ingredients change this list may be updated from time to time – we ask that parents check this list before purchasing snacks throughout the year.
Did you know? Childhood allergic reactions are most likely to happen at school and 50% of reactions were previously unknown to the parents or child.
Thank you for helping to keep our school safe for all of our students.
Thank You!
… to all our parents for making Open House Conferences a successful evening.
BULLETIN BOARD
St. Cloud State University Husky Hot Shots program invites all Preschool – 5th grade students to participate in a basketball clinic program. Hot Shots was formed in the 90’s and was a great way to get the surrounding community youth involved with St. Cloud State University. The Men’s and Women’s Basketball programs will run a one-hour clinic on four Saturdays this Fall (Oct. 22nd and 29th, Nov. 5th and 19th). This clinic is catered to Pre-K through 6th grade and will run from 9:00am to 10:00am with all attendees receiving a different Huskies participation item for each session attended. The 30 student-athletes that comprise the Men’s and Women’s programs along with the coaching staff will provide skill instruction and a fun atmosphere for your students to get involved with the game of basketball. Cost is $35/child. For more information or to sign up, go to https://mensbasketball.scsuhuskiessportcamps.com/husky-hot-shots.cfm. The flyer will be available on FACTS.
Please keep your child home if he/she has a fever of 100.4 degrees or higher, has vomited or had diarrhea in the last 24 hours. Please watch for additional symptoms (shortness of breath, sore throat, chills, loss of taste or smell, body aches, nausea/vomiting/diarrhea, congestion, fatigue, headache.) Please refer to the Parent Handbook on School Speak regarding Illness, Injuries and Accidents. In addition, ASA has posted several Covid resources on School Speak. If your child will be absent, please contact the office to report them absent.
ASA Parent Activity Committee (PAC) Corner
Hello ASA parents! Let's get to know each other! We encourage all interested parents to join PAC – especially if you are new to the community. It’s a GREAT way to meet other ASA families and get connected, and it’s a lot of fun, too! PAC is made up of ASA parents, and it is an integral part of the ASA community. Our mission is to facilitate and support the development of a Christ-centered environment through connections between home and school. Our vision is to support the growth and development of our youth through fundraisers, volunteerism, and family activities. We also facilitate staff appreciation efforts, parent development opportunities and activities inside and outside of the classroom for our children.
(PAC meets on the first Wednesday of every month at 6:30)
