Safety of Our Building
Earlier this week, all parents received an email discussing some of our safety procedures. Our building is 100% secure. Please do not open door for other parents whether you know them or not. The buzzer at our front door activates a camera and allows the office to see all parents and visitors who are coming into the building.
We also pay close attention to the behaviors of our students and must continue to help them grow in our values of caring deeply and speaking kindly. Please take some time to review the discipline, bullying, harassment and weapons policy in our handbook. Additionally, students should not pretend to use weapons in the classroom, on the playground or on school property. Pretend weapon play can make students feel unsafe, especially after incidents like these. If students use fingers, pencils or other objects as weapons or pretend weapons, they may face consequences. Please take some time remind your students of the expectations regarding behavior at school.
Pick Up Procedures and Parking Lot Reminders
Please remember that when K-6 students are dismissed at the end of the day, parents and guardians should NOT park in the lot directly behind the school where the cars line is located. Parking is available in the lot across 12th Avenue and you may walk up and wait outside Door 4. If you do park in the lot behind the school, you MUST wait until ALL cars have cleared the pick up line (at about 3:10 pm) to pull out of your parking space. There have been some near misses with accidents lately when parents pull out of spaces and into the pick up line. This procedure is all about safety and if we all work together, we can ensure that every student makes it to their cars safely. Please communicate these procedures to any adult picking up your child.
Preschool parents picking up at the end of the day should park on the far side of 11th Avenue, and come into the building through Door 2. Please do not park in the bus lane along the front of the building.
Thank you for following these procedures.
