Every Thursday school is in session will provide this “Weekly Parent Newsletter”. Please read carefully. This will contain All Saints Academy, St. Cloud news for you and your family.

Please note, newly added information for this week will be under New News.   Information that has been previously published will be located under Bulletin Board at the end.

NEW NEWS
** Please remember that we are a Nut-free building.  All snacks and lunches need to be peanut-free and nut-free. There is a snack list that is nut-safe in this Thursday folder.  Thank you for helping to keep our school safe for all of our students.** 

1.  Mass on Fridays – Tomorrow, Friday, August 28th, will be our first school mass.  Mass will be held at St. Paul’s Church and begins at 8:15 am.  Everyone is welcome to join us at any mass.  Mass will be held every Friday unless noted.  Please remember that shorts are not worn during mass.  Students may change after mass, if they choose.

2.  School Dates – All Saints Academy will not be in session Monday, Aug. 31st.  Faculty and staff will be attending Diocesan Ministry Day.  Beginning Tuesday, Sept. 1st, District 742 will begin bussing.  There will be no classes held Fri., Sept. 4th and Mon., Sept. 7th due to Labor Day weekend.

3.  Funzone No School Days – Please note that Funzone has a few spots still available for Mon., Aug. 31st and Fri., Sept. 4th.  Please call or email ASAP to reserve a spot for your child, scfunzone@allsaintsmn.org or 320-237-2463.

4.  School Speak – ASA has implemented School Speak, a new online school management system.  It is a secure portal that allows us to store information and communicate with our families. Many of you have received the introductory email to log in to School Speak.  If you haven’t, please contact the office, 251-5295, so that we can provide the information for you.  We would like all parents to log in and update their profile.  This technology will allow us to provide more information, communicate with parents and offer useful tools for everyone who is a member of our school community.

5.  Playground Fundraiser Breakfast – On Sunday, September 13thThe Knights of Columbus will be hosting a breakfast at St. Peter’s Church.  The cost is $7/adult, 5 and under are free.  All proceeds will go towards continuing to pay for the new St. Cloud playground addition!  We will be asking St. Cloud parents/families to take a role in working this breakfast and selling tickets.   8 (eight) tickets will be sent home in this Thursday folder in an envelope.  The complete cost of the ticket can be applied towards your fundraising requirement of $350/child.  We are in need of volunteers to work the breakfast.  If you are new to the All Saints Academy family, this is a good time to meet people by working the breakfast.  Any time you can donate to working the breakfast will help us continue expanding our playground at the St. Cloud Campus.  All hours at the breakfast can go towards your family’s 15 volunteer hours/year.

6. Share Your Gifts at All Saints Academy – Volunteering at school is a wonderful opportunity to give back and share your gifts.  Volunteering at school also allows you to see your children and other children in the school setting.  We are requesting that each family volunteer 15 hours/year at school.  (Recess volunteers are our greatest need and counts towards your 15 hours.)  If your day/year does not allow you to volunteer, we ask that you pay $50 per family (general volunteering)

7.  Spiritwear  - All Saints Academy has new spiritwear!  We have some new items that were displayed during Paperwork Night.  There are new youth hooded sweatshirts as well!  Visit Marissa Bristow in the office and she would be happy to show you sizes and styles.

8. Fall PAA Activities – PAA practices for football, soccer and volleyball will be starting soon.  If you child is interested in playing fall PAA sports, please complete an enrollment form and bring it to the office.  Forms are available at the website, on School Speak (under PAA) and in the office. If you have further questions, please contact Mike Sand, our new PAA Athletic Director at mikesand34@yahoo.com.

9. 2015-2016 Playground Supervision Program – Our goal is to have at least two parents who have children in K – 6th grade with a maximum of three, on the playground everyday to assist the school staff during the entire recess period.  The time commitment for parents will be one hour, beginning at 11:20 am.  If you haven’t signed up for dates yet, please call Kris Haehn and she will be able to assist you.    If you would like to opt out of recess duty, you may pay a fee of $40 upfront instead.

10. Hot Lunch Program – Parents, it is not too late to send in applications for free and/or reduced hot lunches. You can pick up an application at the office. When students receive free/reduced lunches, our hot lunch program receives a reimbursement from the government, benefitting our lunch program. If you have questions regarding this program please contact Mrs. Bristow at 251-5295 or marissa.bristow@allsaintsmn.org.

11. Field Trip Form – This Thursday folder contains the blanket field trip form.  This will cover all field trips that students would be attending for the year. Teachers will notify parents regarding scheduled field trips throughout the year and any additional pertinent information. Please read the form carefully, complete the form for each child and then return it to school by September 11th

12 Parent Meetings - All Parent grade-level meetings will be held Tuesday, September 15th.  We invite everyone to gather in the cafeteria for a short school-wide presentation at 6:00 pm.  Grade level teachers will be making their presentation twice during the evening in homerooms at 6:30 & again at 7:00 pm.  This will give you an opportunity to hear all the specifics for each grade level that evening.  More information about the evening will be in next week’s parent newsletter.

13.  Sacramental PreparationAll Saints Academy supports and recognizes that our families are members of parishes and encourages and supports your involvement in your families’ church.
Parishes as well as Catholic Schools work as partners in their responsibility to support parents as the primary educators of their children.
The responsibility of preparation for the sacraments is one that belongs to the parish.  All Saints Academy supports that formation which is led by the parish.  All families are expected to be in contact with their parishes to ensure you are actively registered and involved in your parish as well as involved in sacramental preparation.

It allows us to communicate with all parents instantly. Signing up is done through a unique code to Mrs. Marissa Bristow. Please text to 612-260-4578 and in the message enter @ef392. It is that easy. You will be added on to the parent list.  If you have signed up in the past, it is not necessary to sign up again.
     Keep Collecting! - Continue to save Labels For Learning, Labels for Education (Campbell's. Swansons, Post, and Prego) only the UPC with the point value is accepted, Box Tops for Education, UPC's from Country Hearth and Village Hearth Products as part of the Loaves4Learning Program, pop and can tabs, old cell phones and used ink cartridges.

Every Thursday school is in session you will be receiving a link to the “Weekly Parent Newsletter”. Please read carefully. This will contain All Saints Academy, St. Cloud news for you and your family.

Please note: newly added information for this week will be highlighted for the ease of reading and accessing information.

We welcome Andrea Kuechle, who has begun taking over the Funzone director position.  Mrs. Kuechle is a newlywed and comes to us with a diverse background in childcare and after-school programming.  Feel free to stop in the Funzone room and introduce yourself.
Ms. Anna Barzey-Robinson will be resigning as Funzone director at the end of August.  We want to express our gratitude to Ms. Barzey-Robinson for her time and effort in developing our Funzone program over the past 3 years.  We wish her the best in her future endeavors. 
         In addition, we welcome Sandra Warzecka as our new 3rd grade teacher.  Many of you may know Mrs. Warzecka as a substitute teacher at the Waite Park Campus.  Prior to coming to ASA, she was a Title 1 Reading Teacher in Sartell.  She has also been a homeroom teacher for 2nd grade & 5th grade.  She is excited to join the St. Cloud Campus and is looking forward to getting to know her students.
          Finally, we would like to say good-bye to Mrs. Anne Marie Kimble.  Mrs. Kimble has accepted a teaching position in the Sartell school district.  All Saints Academy/Sts. Peter, Paul & Michael School thanks Mrs. Kimble for her service at 6th grade and as a middle school teacher.  Again, we wish her the best.

1. Paperwork Night/Ice Cream Social and New Family Meeting Set for Tuesday, Aug. 11th - Paperwork night will be held Tuesday, August 11th from 4:00 – 6:30 pm at the St. Cloud Campus. This will be the time that you pick up all paperwork and can meet with support staff to pay fees. You will also have the opportunity to put money in your child’s hot lunch account to start the new school year. We will have homerooms posted at that time.  Parish faith formation will have representation at this event if you still need to sign up for Wednesday evening Faith Formation classes. We will have a cold treat for you and your family if you would like to stay and socialize.  The New Family Meeting will be the same night as Paper Work Night.  This will be held at 5:30 pm. We look forward to meeting all new families this evening.

2. Open House will be Monday, August 24th - Open House is scheduled at the St. Cloud Campus for Monday, Aug. 24th from 4:30 - 6:00 pm. Plan to meet your child’s teacher, renew old friendships, make new acquaintances and check out our shiny clean building. If you missed picking up paperwork on the 11th, it will be available in your youngest child’s homeroom.

2. Start Dates 2015-2016 - The 2015-2016 school year will begin Wednesday, August 26, 2015 and end on Friday, June 3, 2016.       As in the past, we ask that parents provide transportation for their children to and from school during this first week of school. Please be aware that these dates differ
with the dates of District #742. On September 25th & November 23rd – 25th Dist. 742 will not be in session, All Saints Academy will be holding class. All Saints Academy’s Christmas Vacation will run December 21, 2015 – January 1, 2016. If you have questions, please contact Amanda Gjerde at 251-5295

5. Fall PAA Activities - Attached to this email you will find the 5th and 6th grade fall sports information for 2015-2016. These registrations should be returned at Paperwork Night or Open House. Students have the option of playing volleyball, soccer or football in the fall. If you misplace your registration form, it is also available on the website. There will be a fall sports meeting the night of Open House, Aug. 25th from 6:00 - 6:15 pm in the building cafeteria.       If your child will be playing football, we will be handing out the football equipment after the meeting as well. Any further questions, please contact    (PAA athletic director) at.

A schedule will be created and all families will be placed in the rotation. All families need to volunteer for recess supervision 2 times this year for the safely of the children.  Or you may pay a fee of $40 upfront instead of supervising.
Our talents and skills are meant to be cultivated and shared with others. Sharing our God-given gifts by actively participating in the life of our parish and school is an expression of stewardship. “As each one of us has received a gift, use it to serve one another as good stewards of God’s varied grace,” 1 Peter 4:10. Volunteering at school is a wonderful opportunity to give back and share your gifts. Volunteering at school also allows you to see your children and other children in the school setting. We are requesting that each family volunteer 15 hours/year at school. This can include but not limited to the following: lunchroom supervision, serving lunch, recess, classroom assistance, Picture Day, playing a musical instrument at mass, copying, Thursday folders, Spring Picnic, Extravaganza planning, etc. (If your day/year does not allow you to volunteer, we ask that you pay $50 per family.  Hours are tracked in our office.) We will have sign- up calendars available during Paper Work Night and Open House to sign up for lunchroom supervision & recess specifically.
