Parents:  Thursday, Oct. 20th & Friday, Oct. 21st is Fall Break.  Monday, Oct. 24th is an In-service day for teachers.  ASA will not be in session during these days.  There will not be a parent newsletter next week.

Principal’s Piece

Workathon donations have been coming in everyday this week.  ASA is at 20% of our school goal of $40,000.  If we reach our goal, the students will get the opportunity to spray paint Mr. Terhaar!  They are hoping we can reach it and have a fun time painting him.  We do have a ways to go yet.  But with everyone’s help, ASA will get it done.

Virtual Parent/Teacher/Student Conferences Tuesday

(New info)

The first night of fall conferences was last night.  Thank you to parents for signing up and meeting with teachers.  All conferences are VIRTUAL.  Conference links are provided through Class Dojo, on FACTS (Resource Documents) and on School Speak.  Each conference is a 15 minute, scheduled appointment to meet with your child/ren's homeroom teacher. Parent(s) is/are required to be in attendance at both fall & winter conferences.

Our specialist teachers are available for conferences. Second night of conferences will be Tuesday, October 18th from 3:45 – 7:00 pm.  There is still time to sign up if you haven’t scheduled your conference.

Cold Weather is Here!

(New info)

Now that the temperature has dropped, please make sure your children bring appropriate clothing for recess.  Students go outside every day for recess except when it is raining or the real feel temp is 0 degrees.  Today was a very blustery day with a real feel of 31 degrees.  Students need coats, hats and mittens/gloves.  Soon, students will need boots and snowpants.

Picture Retake Day

(New info)

Wednesday, Oct. 26th is retake day.  3-day preschool students will also have their portrait taken.  If you would like retakes done, please bring your original portraits to school on Wed., Oct. 27th.  Original portraits need to be turned into the photographer for retakes.

3-day preschoolers need to bring the order form with them to have their portraits taken.  Please contact the office if you need an order form.

Drop Off & Pick Up Reminders

When dropping off in the morning and picking up in front of school, please park on the opposite side of the road.  Do not park in front of the building.  The school has been notified by District Transportation several times that it is becoming difficult for buses to pass through parked cars.  The front of the school is reserved for bus drop off and pick up.

·             Do not park where you see the red line on the sidewalk in front of the school building.

·             Look for No Parking signs

·             Park on the opposite side of the street or on side streets.

·             School buses are having difficulty dropping off and picking up students safely with cars parked on both sides of the road.

·             Please be considerate and do not block neighbors’ driveways when parking.

·             Be aware the area is used by other District 742 students.  It is more than ASA buses using the drop off & pick up area.

Workathon 2022

Workathon is scheduled for Saturday, October 29th!   This is a major fundraiser for our school and one of the ways you can meet the required fundraising goal.  The school has begun to receive donations.  Students will spin the “wheel” for prizes for every $50 they raise.  Each student’s personal goal is $200, all funds are applied to your families fundraising goal of $350/year/student.

If you know of family and friends who would like to donate online Click here.  Make sure to designate the donation by naming the student who you are supporting.  All funds raised stay here with All Saints Academy and are applied to fundraising goals.

Halloween Carnival

A Message from the ASA Parents Activities Committee:

We are so excited to announce plans to bring back the ASA Halloween Carnival! It will take place on Friday, October 28th, beginning at 2:00pm (with teachers), and ending at 6:00pm. Please save the date and stay tuned for more information to come!  Volunteer sign up will be coming soon.  All volunteers for the Halloween Carnival will need to have a completed the Safe Environment Training and background check.  (more info below.)

In order to make this event a success, we need your help! We are asking for each family to donate at least one bag of nut-free candy/treats or prizes. (Please refer to the Safe Snack List under Resource Documents in FACTS). Each classroom/grade will be hosting a “Trick or Treat” booth at the carnival, and your generous donation will help your student’s class! We will also be seeking volunteers to assist with this event, so please consider donating your time that afternoon.

Please send your donations to school no later than Wednesday, October 26th.

Thank you so much for your support!

Aubrey Brown and Karin Loch

PAC Co-Presidents

Volunteer Background Checks

If you plan on chaperoning a field trip with your child’s class, you are required to undergo the Safe Environment Training with a full background check.  Information is available on FACTS under Resource Documents.  Look for “Safe Environment Flyer.”  The training is approximately 1 hour, 45 minutes and the cost is $19.

FACTS

FACTS is the new online Student Information System and tuition payment system.  ASA is transitioning from School Speak to FACTS this year.   It is a secure portal that allows us to provide more information, communicate with parents, sign up for conferences and offer useful tools for everyone who is a member of our school community.

If you are new to All Saints Academy or have never logged onto FACTS please call the office for your username & password.  Currently, the office and kitchen are learning how to utilize FACTS with our lunch program.  When we learn how you can add funds using a credit card, it will be communicated to you.

Funzone is using School Speak for now.  When Funzone transitions to FACTS, you will be notified and provided directions on signing up & payment.

Student Absences or Late Students

Please call the office to report your child’s absence before 8 am . Also, transportation changes for your child should be made by calling the office before 10 am. It is difficult for us to make changes to the routine after 10 am and teachers do not have time to check email messages to make those changes throughout the day. If your child unexpectedly needs to attend FunZone, please call the office by 10 am.

Free/Reduced Hot Lunch Program

Parents, it is not too late to send in applications for free and/or reduced hot lunches. You can pick up an application at the office. If you have questions regarding this program, please contact Mrs. Bristow at 251-5295 or marissa.bristow@allsaintsmn.org.

2022-2023 Playground Supervision Program

Our goal is to have one volunteer parent to act as crossing guard on the playground every day to assist the school staff during the entire recess period.  Recess will be 10:40 am – 11:40 am.

Please contact the office to sign up for Playground Supervision. We need one parent everyday to assist the school staff during the entire recess/lunch period.  There is a calendar in the office for your convenience or you can call Mrs. Bristow to sign up.  ASA is hoping to move this sign up to a digital format.

K - 5 families need to volunteer for recess supervision 2-3 times this year for the safety of the children.  (Preschool parents are not required to volunteer as their children do not participate in lunch recess time.  But all families are welcome to volunteer.) If you find your schedule doesn’t allow you to volunteer for Recess Duty, you may opt out by paying $50. (Separate charge from Volunteer Requirement. Recess hours are applied to the 15-hours/year of volunteering.) These funds are used to defray the cost of additional paid recess staff.  At the end of the school year, families will be charged $50 if they haven’t volunteered for recess.

ASA Parent Activity Committee (PAC) Corner

Hello ASA parents! Let's get to know each other! We encourage all interested parents to join PAC – especially if you are new to the community. It’s a GREAT way to meet other ASA families and get connected, and it’s a lot of fun, too! PAC is made up of ASA parents, and it is an integral part of the ASA community. Our mission is to facilitate and support the development of a Christ-centered environment through connections between home and school. Our vision is to support the growth and development of our youth through fundraisers, volunteerism, and family activities. We also facilitate staff appreciation efforts, parent development opportunities and activities inside and outside of the classroom for our children. (PAC meets on the first Wednesday of every month at 6:30).

PAC is ASA’s parent organization.  They help with fun activities for the kids and do things to show appreciation for our teachers.  Your support is needed to keep this parent organization operating.  All families are asked to donate to PAC at the beginning of the year. Currently PAC has only collected half of what they collected last year.  However, last week’s PAC meeting was better attended than previous year’s meetings.  Without your support things like the Halloween Party, Kid’s Dance, St. Nick Day, and Spring Carnival will not happen.  Your child’s class is in need of parent representatives so please sign up.

REMIND!

We encourage parents/guardians to sign up for REMIND - a safe, free and easy way we can communicate with parents instantly through texting.

To sign up, text ASA Administrative Assistant Mrs. Marissa Bristow at 612-260-4578 and in the message enter @ef392.

It is that easy. You will be added to the parent list.  If you have signed up in the past, it is not necessary to sign up again.

ASA is Nut-Free!

Please remember that we are a Nut-free building.  All snacks and lunches need to be peanut-free and nut-free. There is a safe-snack list on FACTS under Resource Documents.  NOTE: Since ingredients change this list may be updated from time to time – we ask that parents check this list before purchasing snacks throughout the year.

Did you know?  Childhood allergic reactions are most likely to happen at school and 50% of reactions were previously unknown to the parents or child.

Thank you for helping to keep our school safe for all of our students.

BULLETIN BOARD

Please help our friends at St. Cloud Youth Hockey (SCYHA) by spreading the word to friends, families, and co-workers. SCYHA has a couple of great opportunities available for our younger skaters that want to play hockey but might not be old enough yet. Or there may be some kids that you know of that want to try hockey but don't want to commit to a season just yet.

Here are two opportunities to pass along:

October Try Hockey Free

We are having another Try Hockey Free event in October.

Is your skater too young to register but still wants to play, well come join us.

Is your skater still unsure and wants to give it another shot, come join us!

Does your skater have friends that might be interested in trying, help us spread the word. Only catch is they must live in the St Cloud area and/or attend a St Cloud School.

I have attached the flyer for reference and sharing purposes.

Here is the link to register: https://forms.gle/RFNB8tKKQ4KrAiBF8

Central MN Pre-K & K Hockey Camp

Is your skater too young for the regular season that your association allows?  Is your skater interested in hockey but not ready to commit to a full season?  If you answered yes this is the program for you!

Some of you may know this was a program that Dianah Klatt used to run. Since Dianah has moved, SCYHA thought that this was a good program for kids in Central MN to get introduced to skating and ultimately go into each of our hockey associations. SCYHA took over the ice time to sustain the program for the kids who want to get introduced to skating. Come join coach Robert on the ice for 10 sessions. This is NOT limited to St Cloud kids, so help us spread the word!

I have attached the flyer for reference and sharing purposes.

Registration Link: https://forms.gle/HpsJPupM6GVd3RYN8

If you have further questions, please contact Amanda Berry, SCYHA 2nd Vice President, at 320-291-6835.

St. Cloud State University Husky Hot Shots program invites all Preschool – 5th grade students to participate in a basketball clinic program. Hot Shots was formed in the 90’s and was a great way to get the surrounding community youth involved with St. Cloud State University. The Men’s and Women’s Basketball programs will run a one-hour clinic on four Saturdays this Fall (Oct. 22nd and 29th, Nov. 5th and 19th). This clinic is catered to Pre-K through 6th grade and will run from 9:00am to 10:00am with all attendees receiving a different Huskies participation item for each session attended. The 30 student-athletes that comprise the Men’s and Women’s programs along with the coaching staff will provide skill instruction and a fun atmosphere for your students to get involved with the game of basketball.  Cost is $35/child.  For more information or to sign up, go to https://mensbasketball.scsuhuskiessportcamps.com/husky-hot-shots.cfm.  The flyer will be available on FACTS.

Please keep your child home if he/she has a fever of 100.4 degrees or higher, has vomited or had diarrhea in the last 24 hours.  Please watch for additional symptoms (shortness of breath, sore throat, chills, loss of taste or smell, body aches, nausea/vomiting/diarrhea, congestion, fatigue, headache.)  Please refer to the Parent Handbook on School Speak regarding Illness, Injuries and Accidents.  In addition, ASA has posted several Covid resources on School Speak.  If your child will be absent, please contact the office to report them absent.
