2. Thanksgiving Food Drive - As we prepare for Thanksgiving, All Saints Academy remembers those in our community who are less fortunate. Our Thanksgiving food drive will be going towards Catholic Charities food shelf. Last week, we sent home brown paper bags to help remind families about the food drive.  Thank you to everyone who has brought in canned & boxed food.  It is not too late. Food items can be dropped off in the entry way of school.  Catholic Charities will be here on tomorrow, November 13th to pick up all donated items.  If you have questions, please feel free to contact a member of the Social Concerns Committee (Mrs. Bautch, Mrs. Loesch, Mrs. Detra, Mrs. Decker & Mrs. Hoon)
3.  Hats & Mittens - Parents, please remind your children to grab their caps and gloves and dress for the weather, in the morning on their way to school.  With the temps predicted to drop, they’ll be happy to be dressed warmer when they go out for recess.   On a related note… this time of year our Lost and Found grows.  Marking your child’s outerwear is a good idea and helps get those lost belongings back to the rightful owners.  The next time you stop by school check the Lost & Found area on the lower level.  You just might find something you’ve been missing!
4.  WINTER WEATHER/SCHOOL CLOSINGS – All Saints Academy is closed when “St. Cloud Area School District 742 Schools” are announced as closed.  The St. Cloud Area public schools post closings on their website at  www.isd742.org/‎.  As soon as ASA administration is aware of a closing, a Remind text will be sent to all Remind participants (if you haven’t signed up for Remind yet, instructions are located in the Bulletin Board section of the newsletter. WJON communicates all weather related closings, also.)

Playground Duty – Week of Nov. 16th – 20th.    (Please contact Kris Haehn, 251-5295, to schedule yourself for recess duty.  All families are required to volunteer for 2 days or they may opt out by paying $50/family.)

·      Shoveling for Franciscan Sisters – The St. Cloud Franciscan Sisters house is in need of someone who would be willing to clear snow this winter.  Snow would need to be cleared by 7 am out of a driveway and sidewalk.  The house is located on the north-side of St. Cloud.  For more details and compensation info, please call 320-240-9008 and ask for Sr. Joyce.
·      Bingo - St. Peter’s Art and Soul Committee is hosting a Bingo night! Friday November 20th from 6:00-8:00 in the St. Peter’s Parish Center.  A Sloppy Joe, chip and soda dinner can be purchased for $2.00 and bingo is $0.25/game.  Prizes will include pies, fun games (like a Nerf gun and makeup kit) for youth, and some Turkeys.  We would love to see you there!
·      Family Lunch Accounts - Family Lunch accounts need to be kept up to date. Notices are in Thursday folders this week if you owe $10 or more. If the balance owed is more than $30.00, students will receive a sandwich and milk during lunch until payment is received beginning Monday, October 26th. According to Federal Policy from the Department of Agriculture, “Schools may deny a meal to a student who pays reduced or full price and who does not provide the required payment for the meal.”  Your cooperation with this matter is most appreciated.
·      Safe Environment Training – Many of you have completed the required paperwork needed for background checks.  Part of the process is completing the Safe Environment Training that is found online.  If you are volunteering at the school, it is required that you complete this training every year. Thank you to those of you who have completed the online training.  Please go to http://stcdio.org/safeenvironmentinstructions/ to complete the training.  The video is approximately 11 minutes long.   Make sure to answer the questions and click “Submit.”
·      Youth Hockey – St. Cloud Youth Hockey will have the event “Try Hockey For Free” on Saturday mornings (Nov. 14, Nov. 21, Dec. 5 & Dec. 12) from 8 – 9 am at the MAC, 5001 Veterans Dr., St. Cloud.  Kids 4 – 8 years old in Dist. 742 who aren’t currently in hockey may register.  Registration forms are available in the office.
·      Spiritwear Day – Spiritwear Day is every Wednesday that school is in session.  We invite everyone (students, faculty, staff, parents) to wear some kind of Spiritwear to school every Wednesday.  We have some new zip up sweatshirts in student sizes as well as hooded sweatshirts. If you are interested in an ASA sweatshirt or t-shirt, you may check out our supply of Spiritwear!  Many of you may have seen our new items for adults as well.  Contact Marissa Bristow, marissa.bristow@allsaintsmn.org or stop in the office to try on something.
·      Volunteer Opportunity – We are in need of a volunteer that is willing to work at St. Peter’s independently.  It requires recording & list making of furniture that we are storing at St. Peter’s.  There is some movement of furniture required in order to take photos of the furniture.  If you are interested in helping us, please contact Amanda Gjerde, Amanda.gjerde@allsaintsmn.org.  All hours will count towards your 15-hour volunteer requirement.
·      School Speak – ASA has implemented School Speak, a new online school management system.  It is a secure portal that allows us to store information and communicate with our families. Many of you have received the introductory email to log in to School Speak.  If you haven’t, please contact the office, 251-5295, so that we can provide the information for you.  We would like all parents to log in and update their profile.  This technology will allow us to provide more information, communicate with parents and offer useful tools for everyone who is a member of our school community.
·      Sign Up for REMIND: The St. Cloud Campus would like to invite parents/guardians to sign up for REMIND. REMIND is a safe, free and easy way we can connect with parents through texting. It allows us to communicate with all parents instantly. Signing up is done through a unique code to Mrs. Marissa Bristow. Please text to 612-260-4578 and in the message section enter @ef392. It is that easy. You will be added on to the parent list.  If you have signed up in the past, it is not necessary to sign up again.
